[ Top franchise marketers take home Frankie ]

Mr. Lube, Oxford Learning Centres and Prime Restaurants were big winners at the The Canadian Franchise Association’s (CFA) 2008 Frankie Awards last week.

Mr. Lube and its agency Rethink, took home Gold in the Radio, Television and Outdoor categories, while Oxford Learning Centres won Gold in the Magazine and Newspaper Advertisement categories.

Prime Restaurants and Gordon Sibley Design were awarded the Humber College Award for best overall design—voted by the college’s Advertising and Graphic Design students—for Prime’s Bier Market. Prime Restaurants and its agency also took home a gold in the Point of Purchase category for Casey’s Cocktails.

Other Gold winners at the 2008 Frankie Awards included:

  • Arcadia Academy of Music and As You Like It Marketing, in the Brochures—Business to Business category;

  • PropertyGuys.com in the Brochures—Consumer/Retail category;

  • Fishbowl Restaurants and As You Like It Marketing, in the Corporate Identity category;

  • Print Three and Eden Advertising & Interactive in the Direct Marketing category;

  • M&M Meat Shops in the Internet category;

  • Harvey’s in the media campaign category;

  • Country Style in the Package Design category; and

  • Enviroking Lawn Care as well as St. Louis Bar & Grill for two efforts from The Adlib Group,in the Tradeshow Booth category.

Entries are submitted by Canadian franchisors, advertising agencies and franchising support service providers. A panel of top professionals in creative, production and marketing fields reviewed 237 entries. The entries were judged on clarity of message, originality of concept, effective use of medium, quality of execution and overall presentation.
