[ Best Buy makes Twilight friends ]

With the teen vampire hit flick Twilight set for DVD release this Saturday, Best Buy Canada is giving movie fans a Facebook application they can sink their teeth into.
Twilight’s main character and vampire Edward Cullen delivers daily messages to Facebook profiles when fans register for the application at TwilightLoveNotes.ca. The romantic notes count down the days until the film’s release.
For instance, yesterday’s note read: “You’re not like anyone I’ve ever known. You fascinate me. I want to learn everything about you when we meet in four days. Edward C”
Users that reply to the messages are automatically entered for a chance to win a $300 Best Buy gift card and a copy of the movie. Site visitors can also vote for their favourite posts, and order an exclusive Best Buy Twilight edition. Best Buy agency Zig developed the application.
“Many of Twilight’s biggest fans spend significant time connecting with their friends on Facebook,” said Cameron Wykes, Zig’s executive creative director, digital, in a release. “We found that they are vocal about their enthusiasm for the movie, so we created another method for them to broadcast their excitement.” According to the agency, approximately 3,600 have registered on the site so far.
