[ Stefan Danis racing through Mongolia to help NABS ]

April 24, 2009   |   By Kristin Laird

Mandrake and NexCareer CEO Stefan Danis is racing through Mongolia’s Gobi Desert to raise money for the National Advertising Benevolent Society (NABS).

Danis hopes to raise $25,000 for NABS by completing the Gobi March, an expedition style, six-day race against 200 competitors beginning June 14. The March is part of the 4 Deserts series which is on Time Magazine’s Top 10 Endurance Competitions list.

NABS provides assistance to advertising, media and related industry professionals who need help due to illness, injury, unemployment or financial hardship.

And rather than just ask for donations, Danis is sweetening the deal for potential donors by offering career management and outplacement services.

For every $100 contribution, the donor will receive a gift voucher for NexCareer services.

“I want to support an industry that is often the first in line for cost cutting and do so in a way that has the potential to give back more than the monetary value of a pledge,” said Danis, in a release.

The voucher can be transferred to family or friends who have been laid off unable to access outplacement coverage. NexCareer will conduct one-on-one career coaching, an orientation with a career strategist, and career transition workshops for donations between $200 and $2,500.

“The hope is to deliver hundreds of workshops to assist the job seekers who could use a lift in their job search strategy and tactics,” said Danis. Pledges can be made online at Gobi4NABS.com.
