Petro-Canada is giving Canadians the chance to be a Family Correspondent through a new contest as part of its Canadian Athlete Family Program.
To enter, consumers must upload a 30-second video to Facebook.com/DreamBig explaining why they want to be a correspondent.
The winner and a family member will be sent to the Games to post Tweets, update the Facebook fanpage, blog and star in short YouTube videos. They will have press access to various events and given the opportunity to interview members of the athletes' families.
As part of the program, Petro-Canada is hosting two immediate family members for each participating Olympic and Paralympic athlete. Each guest receives up to four nights accommodation, meals and event tickets.
"We wanted to give Canadians from coast-to-coast the opportunity to meet athletes' families in Vancouver, and this was a way to facilitate that," said Allyson Zarowny, senior advisor, Olympic programs at Petro-Canada.
Petro-Canada is supporting the contest through its social media platforms including Facebook, which currently has nearly 23,000 fans.
Petro-Canada is the exclusive national oil and gas partner of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games and an Olympic team sponsor during the Vancouver 2010 and London 2012 Games.
The contest, which was developed by TBWA\Toronto in collaboration with Edelman Canada, closes Dec. 27.
