A Toronto restaurant company will have a starring role at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Oliver & Bonacini Restaurants has partnered with TIFF for two concept locations and an event space at the Bell Lightbox, the future home of the annual two-week festival.

O&B Canteen, a grab-and-go style café and Luma, an upscale bistro style restaurant are slated to open next month, a few weeks ahead of the Sept. 9 festival opening.

Malaparte, the sixth-floor event space, will open in November and feature an adjoining rooftop terrace and outdoor amphitheatre, and will play host to exclusive private and star-studded festival events.

TIFF went looking for a restaurant partner a couple of years ago, Oliver & Bonacini was eager to answer the call, said Allison Woo, its senior designer, marketing communications.

Woo called the partnership a great match, considering both Oliver & Bonacini and TIFF are seen as premium brands.

"It's an exciting new building and we feel a lot of TIFF goers will frequent our restaurants as well," she said.

Designed by architect Bruce Kuwabara, the Lightbox has five screening auditoriums, exhibition libraries, a film reference library and educational facilities.

Pictures and possible menu items for the new restaurants are shared on the company's blog.

The festival caters to an international crowd, which has inspired much of the fare, said Woo.

The Oliver & Bonacini Restaurant portfolio includes fine-dining restaurants Canoe, Auberge du Pommier, Jump, Biff's Bistro and the upscale casual Oliver & Bonacini.
