A recap of who’s headed where in marketing communications.

Hugh Scholey, managing director of Byrnes Communications.

HUGH SCHOLEY, the former senior vice-president and partner at High Road Communications, joined Byrnes Communications as managing director. Scholey left High Road in 2012 and spent the last year working as an independent consultant.

Edelman Canada announced three senior leadership appointments as the firm continues to focus on digital expertise. DAVE FLEET was promoted to senior vice-president of Eastern Canada while STEVE PARK assumed the role of senior vice-president of Western Canada. PAUL ORTCHANIAN was appointed vice-president of technology.

SOLANGE ATWOOD has been named senior vice-president, international at Blue Ant Media. Arriving from Si Entertainment, she now leads the company’s international distribution arm. She previously worked at Tricon Films & Television.

MARIO DAIGLE joined Nurun as the executive vice-president and general manager to steer the Montreal-based digital/innovation team, overseeing business development and leading client partnerships. Daigle, the former KBS+ Canada president, also serves on the global executive committee.

DEREK SMYTH joined Vision Critical as chief revenue officer. Smyth has over 20 years industry experience, having held senior level positions at Radius, Bridgescale Partners, Edgestone Capital and OMERS Ventures.

Boom Marketing hired TOM CASEY as its chief operating and insights officer to oversee operating functions such as finance, IT and HR. Casey has over 30 years experience in retail, marketing and management consulting, including 18 years with Best Buy in the U.S. He spent the last two years with Pareto as its vice-president of field operations.

Bell Media promoted NANCI MACLEAN and JUSTIN STOCKMAN to vice-president, Bell Media Production and vice-president, Specialty Channels, respectively. MacLean continues to lead the company’s in-house production team for all entertainment programming across Bell Media’s portfolio of conventional and specialty channels. Stockman will oversee the day-to-day operational and strategic management of Bell Media’s portfolio of Entertainment Specialty brands.

Zulu Alpha Kilo hired JON TAYLOR as a copywriter. Taylor spent the last three years working at Red Urban on Volkswagen, Alexander Keith’s and Rolling Rock. He has also worked with the National Post and TBWA\Toronto.

RICK BRACE, who recently retired as Bell Media’s president, specialty channels and CTV production, was named chairman of MuchFACT (a foundation to assist Canadian music talent). He succeeds DAVID KINES.
