With Dell now on their client roster, Montreal-based Sid Lee will open an office in Dell’s home town of Austin, Texas.
“Sid Lee peeps are at [tech and music festival] SXSW this week and, guess what, some of them decided to never leave Austin,” said a post on the agency’s Facebook page.
The company plans to have office space rented “in a few weeks,” and several Austin-based account management job postings have made their way onto SidLee.com’s jobs page.
“We’re starting with about 15 people at this location,” said Vito Piazza, general manager of Sid Lee Toronto. It will be important for Sid Lee’s existing methodologies and culture to move to the Austin office, he added, but the company was not ready to reveal who would be overseeing the new operation.
This marks the company’s fifth office or “atelier.” Aside from its headquarters in Montreal, it has locations in Amsterdam, Paris and Toronto.
“Austin is a pretty incredible city,” Piazza said. “It has a very eclectic attitude culturally towards music and art. So while it’s great for us because Dell is a great piece of business and we want to be as close to them as possible to forge a deep relationship, we want it to be more than just a functional office [for the client]. It will be a breeding ground for Sid Lee and what we do.”
