Terrence Donnelly has joined MDC Partners as director of business development for Canada. Donnelly is making the move to this senior role after two years at Adcentricity, the mobile and location based agency he founded in 2010.
As director of business development, Donnelly will be tasked with landing new clients for the group and aligning them with MDC agencies. Bob Kantor, MDC chief marketing and business development officer, said Donnelly was chosen in part because of his familiarity with MDC’s clients and agencies.
“He’s worked with many of our agencies and many of our clients,” Kantor said, noting Donnelly’s experience as executive vice-president of digital at Mandrake, a leader in talent recruitment. “He has that relationship with many of the agencies and clients. That in combination with his entrepreneurial spirit made him the perfect candidate for us,” Kantor said.
Kantor said MDC has found success in the U.S. by pursuing clients from a corporate level and then aligning them with an MDC agency based on their needs. He’s hoping Donnelly can land new Canadian clients for MDC using this method.
Donnelly is filling a recently created position at a time of growth for MDC. “We’re having a really strong run throughout almost all of the portfolio in Canada,” said Kantor, pointing to new clients like Mini and Bud Lite (both of which moved to Anomaly Toronto) as examples.
“Donnelly is going to be a great addition to our team. I’m really excited. We’ve had an outstanding year and I think this is the time to pour more gas on the fire and accelerate that growth,” he said.
