Annual competition adds Design to the lineup

It’s here again: your chance to win the praise of your colleagues, a nice trophy, a place alongside the some marketing greats and, most importantly, another reason to ask your boss for a raise.

It’s time to enter the 2013 Marketing Awards. The entry site is now live with the deadline set for March 13.

After a significant overhaul of the categories over the past couple of years (including the amalgamation of the categories from the Digital Marketing Awards) only a few changes were made in 2013… with one big exception: Design.

Six design categories have been introduced to recognize and celebrate the amazing work being done by Canada’s design community.

This work will be judged by a separate jury of design professionals but will be awarded at the Marketing Awards gala and included in the Marketing Awards book.

In consultation with our promotional partner RGD Ontario, the categories have not been narrowly defined, but they reflect those used at major design shows around the world.

Since this is Marketing’s first shot at Design and we want to make new friends in the design community, entry fees have been cut in half for these categories.

After announcing DDB’s Dean Lee and Bensimon Byrne’s Joseph Bonnici as co-chairs for the show, the next big news will be the jury. Lee and Bonnici will be calling creatives on their wishlist soon. Look for an announcement in Marketing Daily next week.
