IPG Mediabrands has named former Grip Ltd. president Harvey Carroll its new Canadian CEO.
Reporting to Guy Beach, COO for Mediabrands North America, Carroll will oversee operations for the Interpublic-owned network of media agencies, including UM, Initiative, Orion, Cadreon, Reprise and M2.
The role was previously held by Peter Mears, who left the organization in June and became president of Initiative in New York.
“Harvey’s extremely progressive view of the media landscape tightly aligns with our global objectives. He innately understands the role of content in today’s environment and is recognized as one of the thought leaders from the Canadian industry. On top of all that, he is a really terrific human being,” said Jacki Kelley, North American CEO for IPG Mediabrands, in a release.
Carroll had been with Grip for five years. Prior to that, he was vice-president of marketing for InBev.
Mediabrands said Canada is its fifth-largest market after the U.S., the U.K., Germany and Australia.
