Viewing the issue from the otherside – Aussie tourism selling their ‘downunder experience’ – the focus is that great point of difference in the climate, scenery, lifestyle. Mountains, lakes, snow, and locals who are just so darn NICE is why Aussies want to visit – and they all do. Kitch is cute, but get back to basics.
“Banff traffic jam” – really?!?! REALLY?? How many times is that tired joke going to be recycled?
The big challenge is that we sell the idea of “a trip to Canada” it doesn’t set a reasonable expectation for visitors.
It would make more sense to promote regional experiences – “come check out these things in Alberta and BC” or “here’s a Maritimes experience”. Stop selling it like its a destination that you can experience *well* in a week or two.
