Target is making its Quebec debut by partnering with Montreal Fashion Week.
The cheap-chic retailer is joining forces with Quebec singer and style icon Mitsou Gélinas, who will represent Target at the event, which takes place Sept. 4 to 7.
As Target’s “fashion ambassador,” Mitsou (as she is known) will attend various shows, conduct interviews and hang out in Target’s media lounge. Her role is to share updates and create content for Target’s social channels and digital platforms such as ABullsEyeView.com, said Lisa Gibson, spokesperson at Target Canada.
“By partnering with Montreal Fashion Week, we think it’s a great platform for us to really drive home our focus on design and fashion,” said Gibson.
The retailer will start opening stores in Quebec in the fall of 2013. This is its first marketing push in the province.
In February, Target created a one-day-only pop-up store in Toronto, featuring a limited-edition collection from Jason Wu.
The Minneapolis-based retailer aims to open 200 stores in Canada, with 125 opening next year.
