Former MacLaren McCann Canada vice-president and general manager Tankut Karahan has been named president of Aegis Media Canada’s Carat Canada network. His appointment is effective immediately.
Karahan will be responsible for strategy and growing Carat’s product offering and innovation. He will work closely with Carat Montreal president Ody Giroux to develop what the company described as a “diversified media solutions offer” across the country.
In a release, Karahan praised Carat’s “inspiring vision, performance driven-culture, strong values and a cutting-edge understanding of how media is redefining clients’ businesses.”
Announcing the appointment, Aegis Media Canada president Annette Warring called Karahan the “right president” for Carat’s market and brand.
“He understands the dynamics of successfully driving a global brand while leveraging local talent, resources and opportunities,” said Warring in a release. “I am very excited to have him guide Carat to even greater heights, to become the largest and most influential media agency in the country. [Karahan] has the right leadership, expertise and energy to ensure we continue growing and remain on top of our game.”
Karahan has more than 18 years of experience, working with several major clients including GM, The Coca-Cola Company, Nestlé, L’Oréal, Unilever, MasterCard, HSBC and Gillette.
In addition to MacLaren McCann, his professional career has also included stints with McCann Erickson Istanbul and Inchcape Retrans.
