Media Profile wins Sony Computer Entertainment’s PR account

Media Profile was named PR agency of record for Sony Computer Entertainment Canada (SCEC), the division responsible for PlayStation.

During the review, agencies presented ideas for the launch of PlayStation4, which is slated for release during the 2013 pre-holiday period.

Alison King, president of Media Profile, said the agency’s strong consumer tech and entertainment experience was one of the reasons for the win. The agency has worked with Google, Toshiba, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and CBC over the years.

“The Media Profile team impressed us with their enthusiasm, creativity, and considerable tech and entertainment experience,” said Matt Levitan, director of marketing and public relations, Sony Computer Entertainment Canada, in a release. “This will be an exhilarating year for SCEC and we’re very pleased to have Media Profile on board to help tell our story in a new and compelling way.”

In addition, King said Media Profile promised to promote PlayStation4 “beyond the traditional gaming media that are going to be covering the launch anyway.”
The agency also came in with some strong recommendations on the social media front, another important focus for SCEC, said King.

As a result of the new PlayStation business, Janine Smith, PR specialist at Sony Computer Entertainment, has joined the Media Profile team as a senior consultant. “It really allows us to hit the ground running and she’s got a lot of those contacts both within Sony as well as with the media,” said King.
